The taste of the Mount Conero

The Mosciolo of Portonovo grows wild in the water of the Conero Park, 10 km south of Ancona. It is a unique kind of mussel, protected by the Slow Food Presidium. The chef Simone Baleani, 30 years resposable for the cuisine of the restaurant Il Molo di Portonovo, prepares it using only Italian fresh ingredients.

The original Spaghetti Cappelli 1915 made of flour, rich fiber, and lightly ambered as the golden color of its spike, have a traditioanl flavor: intense and strong. Excellent in staying firm after cooking. In 1991, a dreamer, named Carlo Latini, restarted to cultivate this ancient Italian variety. This was the first wheat type that took part to the ENSE (National Institution Elected Seed) in 1915.


Among the lovely hills of Morro D’Alba, Mr. Stefano Mancinelli cultivates vineyards and olive groves. In the surface area of about 60 hectares, the vineyards take up 25 hectars, producing several wines with Registered Designation of Origin (D.O.C) such as Lacrima di Morro d’Alba D.O.C and Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi D.O.C. Classico, typical of the area. There are also 2500 olive from which they obtain an extra virgin olive oil with low acidity and a particular fruity and aromatic taste.
