La ricetta degli arancini di carnevale marchigiani

Today we want to share with you a typical carnival recipe of our region: the arancini!

Despite the same name, our sweet arancini have nothing to do with the famous Sicilian arancini, filled with rice!

The arancini from Le Marche are sweet fried swirls with an orange and / or lemon filling, very crumbly and tasty. They kind of look like cinnamon rolls and they have an unforgettable fragrance! They are easy to make and you won't need to much time. The arancini can also be cooked in the oven but we recommend frying them because they will be definitely tastier!

Here is the list of ingredients and the recipe to create about 16 arancini:

- 300 grams flour "00"

- 130 grams of sugar

- 1 egg

- 125 ml of milk

- 30 grams of butter

- 12 grams brewer's yeast

- 2 organic orange (you will need only the peel)

- Seed oil for frying

- Powdered sugar

Dissolve the yeast in milk and put all the flour in a bowl. In the center, put butter, all the sugar, and the egg. Add the milk with the brewer's yeast little by little, and knead until you obtain a homogeneous dough. Let rise for about two hours, covering the dough with a cooking film and a kitchen towel.

Meanwhile, grate the peel of the two organic oranges, trying not to grate the white, which are bitter. Mix with sugar. After two hours, rework the dough a little and spread it until it reaches a rectangular shape, with a thickness of one or two centimeters. Cover everything with the orange and sugar mix. Roll the dough tight on itself and let it rest for half an hour. Cut the tube, thus creating the rolls. Now it's time to fry! Heat the oil up to temperature, insert the rolls, turning them from time to time until they become golden.

If you are looking for a healthier option, bake them at 175 degrees for about 15 minutes. The arancini are ready! If you like, sprinkle with icing sugar or granulated sugar.
