A beautiful and healthy tan starts on our table: a good diet is the starting point to have a healthy and radiant skin. “To ensure a proper skin hydration, we should introduce a several amount of liquids – explains Mattia Binci, biologist and nutritionist – it’s important to drink even on the beach: it can be an excellent idea to bring a cold green tea prepared at home or some red fruit tea. If you don’t like tea, you can drink bancha, matcha or rooibos tea, which they have a very low thein content. Tea is a natural antioxidant which contributes to prevent sun damages and protect the skin form cell damages caused by sun radiations”.
The right amount of water depends on age and physical activity: “children have to drink a lot because they are in their growth phase – precise the nutritionist – about two liters a day. For the elderly can be enough even a liter, a liter and a half of water, especially if they’re sedentary. For adults who do intense physical activity or sweating a lot, they can drink even three or four liters of water a day”.
Two colors must be brought on the table: orange and green fruits and vegetables. “Carrots, apricots, melons and peaches are rich in carotenoids and antioxidant A vitamin”, underlines the nutritionist. “These fruits stimulate melatonin production, which is the natural protection of the skin from solar radiation – he explains – but it is also important to consume dark leafy vegetables, rich in A vitamin as beets, spinaches, rockets and pumpkins, while it’s better to avoid exaggerated loads of salt and fats from animal origin, preferring extra virgin olive oil. Better to focus on fresh and raw foods because they avoid more sweating and they’re more easily digested”.
